On September 21, 2009 Zultys announced the availability of their new Media Gateway (MG) series of products that provide a SIP to Analog gateway for Zultys MX30 and MX250 iPBXs. These devices allow the connection of an analog telephone device and/or the connection to an analog circuit. I’ll get to those different gateways and their configurations in a minute. IP based telephone solutions come in two offerings: Premise based IP PBXs, and Hosted VoIP Services.
ROI Telephony does not consider Hosted VoIP a viable IP Voice alternative based on personal and customer experience with the technology. While the value proposition sounds good – one circuit for Voice and Internet, no on premise phone system to manage, one bill, more advanced features than traditional phone systems etc. – the reliability problems with the technology are ongoing and have proven to be disruptive to the customer’s day-to-day operations.
